Where is City Transfer located?

The City Transfer head office is located in Powell River, however, we have locations in Richmond, Gibsons and Powell River.

What types of vehicles do you use to transport freight?

Your freight and equipment are transported by our expansive fleet of 5 and 10 ton trucks and semi-trucks, flatdeck, tanker, trailers, containers, tugboats and barge vehicle solutions.  For more information about our fleet – click here.

What are your rates?

Why do you use barges?

By using barges and marine terminals we significantly reduce truck traffic on BC’s highways.  We also do not have to rely on BC Ferries to ship your freight.  It is this integrated approach that sets City Transfer apart from other freight companies.  More specifically, using barges is a more efficient method of transport.

How long has your company been in business?

City Transfer began its roots in 1921.  Family-owned and operated, current ownership has been passed on three generations since 1945.

Was beer the first product that was ever shipped by City Transfer?

Sadly no, the beer came later.  In addition to paper, storage and moving of furniture and essential items, the primary product shipped in the 40’s and 50’s was coal.
