History of City Transfer
Bert Long purchased City Transfer
(1945) Ltd. from his partners in 1948. In 1958 Bert’s son Harold
Long joined his father in the company business. Over the next 22 years,
Harold learned all facets of the business until he assumed control from
his father in 1980. Between 1980 and 1999 Harold operated and grew the
business to its current stature. In 1986, Harold entered into a
political career serving as MLA in the BC Legislature serving two terms
before his retirement. In 1999, Harold passed management control of the
company to the third generation of the family. Today Craig Long serves
as the Ceo of the company with brother and sister, Phill Long and
Brenda Birtig serving as partners and senior managers.
