About City Transfer

City Transfer has been providing general freight transportation services for over sixty-five years with founding roots dating back to 1945 and ownership in its third generation. Over the years, City Transfer has transformed and grown to an organized, professional company focusing on superior customer service at competitive rates. Our primary market is British Columbia's coastal water-locked communities providing transportation services to and from the Lower Mainland, Powell River, the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island.

Our company uses 5 and 10 ton trucks, semi-trucks, trailers, tugboats and barges to transport our customer's freight and equipment. It is the integration of road and marine assets that forms the core of our business concept providing superior customer value. Services include Total Load (TL), Less Than Load (LTL) and Marine Transportation services. Having the ability to use water transport to move all types of goods, means we are not restricted in our ability to include the hauling of dangerous and hazardous materials. We provide an essential service to the communities in which we operate.

Utilizing our waterways to transport goods to the communities in which we operate subjects our company to many external regulations and regular audits. In addition to these external audits, we have implemented systems and standards internally that set us apart from an average carrier.

City Transfer also understands its responsibility to the environment. We have launched a campaign entitled "Greener by Design" which focuses on minimizing our environmental impact. To date our water transport method of moving goods has saved over 400,000 litres of fuel per year, which equates to a lower carbon footprint of 1100 tonnes annually. Our goal is to continue to find effective measures that will further reduce our carbon footprint while providing a cost effective and superior method of moving freight for our customers.

We acknowledge the importance of our staff and their role in providing quality service to our customers. Many staff members have been with our company for over 15 years and many will retire with us. Having a unique combination of caring, dedicated staff and efficient operational methods has contributed to the success of our company and ultimately, provides our customers with superior service at reasonable rates.
